Any thoughts on getting a rusted emergency brake adjuster on my '66 Barracuda un-stuck. I have sprayed the nut with penetrant, let it soak for days, repeat, and am not able to get it loose. I am upgrading from 7-1/4 to 8-3/4 differential and 9-inch to 10-inch drum brakes, so the emergency brake needs adjustment. I guess heat is my next try. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I suppose I may need to get a new front cable (if I can find one), I have new cables that go into the drums.

I guess heat is my next try.

That's what I would try, a propane torch oughta do the trick.

You'll need to back the adjuster off so the cables will actually hook up in the rear, I went through the same thing.

Well, by George, heat worked after soaking for a few days. I got some of the WD-40 Specialist Rust Release Penetrant Spray, seemed to work pretty good. It is still very tight with all the rust on the screw and the friction nut, but it did loosen. It probably helps that this is originally a California car, things are not too rusted under the car. Thank you.
