E brake cable firewall grommet

So, here's a DMT repro. grommet and one in a 72 Dart at the junkyard. The repro. has small tabs on the backside and would install from the eng. compartment (if the tabs would hold it in place, which they won't). The one I assume to be factory installs from the interior and has large tabs with smaller tabs to secure it . Can anyone with an original car shed some light on this? Does anyone repop these? Grrr, this is holding up reassembly....

I did away with mine and put a 1" plug in the hole

There are some out there with the tabs. I got mine from Columbia Parts (ebay seller).
