Has anybody used an inside hood release set-up from a newer 73-76 Dart or Duster on an early A body 63-66? I was wondering if it would work. I have a 66 Valiant and would like to install one for piece of mind, extra security when not around my car! Thanks! Keith.

Should work OK if the hood latch is close enough. Do know the trunk latch is the same, have an electric trunk release installed on my '66. Don't know if the inside hood release is needed though. Lost a driver's side vent window to a couple of thieves who were trying to get under the hood. Apparently the new crop are unaware of outside hood releases, they've probably never seen one. They sure knew enough to haul a$$ when the .357 barked though.:axe:

i was going to do that but the main problem is the 66 hood latch. the "pull" is from the pass side, so the cable would have to loop back around if you mount the lever under the drivers side dash. i havent made it to a wrecking yard to look at other latches. maybe an electric solonoid?
i have another latch from ??? but it is a cable type and the lever the cable hooks to interferes with the latch mount. couldnt figure a way around that problem.

If you're acustom to not having an inside hood release you probably wont like having one later. As for security, if you still have the button headed door lock buttons, anyone can open the door. Most of todays young crackhead battery thieves dont know these cars don't have inside hood release anyway and open the door to look for it.
A better idea would be just the inside hood release handle attached only to a switch and timer that blows the horn for a full minute when pulled.
