Edelbrock AVS2 Fitting?

I’m installing an Edelbrock AVS2 carb on my 68 GTS. As you know the Edelbrock carb comes with a fuel inlet fitting that you must install a piece of fuel line to it. Can I take the fuel inlet fitting from my old Carter AVS and screw it into the Edelbrock carb which would allow me to screw my existing fuel line right into the carb eliminating the piece of fuel line. I don’t want to cut my existing proper steel fuel line.
