I have seen one on an early A. Cant remember if he had a hood scoop.
I think it can be done with a drop down element, and a 2" or maybe 3" filter.

I have a drop base currently with a 3" filter. I haven't done any calculating just wondered if anybody knew.

The height of the Air-gap is 5.8".
That is from where the manifold meets the engine to the top of the carb base.

It will be close. I think for sure you can get away with the 2" filter.

The Edelbrock LD4B with original carb & air cleaner and the CA162 filter just barely rubbed the hood insulation in mine. CA160 gives about 1/2 Inch more. As said above, you'll want a drop filter base if adding RPM Air Gap.

Have an airgap on the 340 in my cuda with this aircleaner i fabbed up. Setup is a summit 14" flat base(has maybe a 3/8 inch drop),2 inch filter & edelbrock top. It is tight but clears & looks a little cleaner than a one inch plus drop IMHO. Also modify or remove the oblong underhood cowl plugs for a poor mans cowl induction.

I originally had a RPM performer on my 1964 dart and the wing nut dimpled the hood once after I floored it. Take some playdough and put it where you think it might hit and close the hood carefully and then you can measure clearances. I currently have a Victor 340 and it sits way lower than the RPM Performer. Jayson

I used a standard 9" filter base & a 2-3/4" height filter with a Holley 4160 to fit a 273HP chrome cover under the stock hood. The Holley is actually not as tall as the Carter AFB. Also used a torque strap to prevent hood dings.

I have air gap w/ 1/2" spacer, drop base w/ 3" filter on a holley. No clearance issues on my 64 Dart

BOBS,
Thats what I wanted to hear. I am currently running that setup with a performer intake. So, this should be painless.

Thanks everyone for the input!
