Where can i find the vin# on a 72 340?

On the passenger side just above the oil pan rail on a flat machined pad. Should be 8 digits beginning with a 1 or 2

I was thinkin that small blocks had the casting numbers on the side of the block and the other numbers on a machined area where the head and block meet on the front driver side of the block ??

Yes, the casting #s are embossed on the side of the block, but the partial VIN # is down low on a 72 340 block as mentioned before.

Also, the 1st digit should be a 2, not a 1. Not sure what I was thinking there #-o
