Can anyone tell me how to decode Injun block casting numbers to find out what car they originally came from. The engine is a 68 383 but it was in a 66 polara i'm just curious to see what it originally came out of?

No way to tell from casting numbers, but, if there's a VIN stamped anywhere on the block, that can be used to tell what vehicle it was originally in. I believe VIN stamping started sometime in '68.

it will give year, factory of car build and last 6 of vin, but nothing else. I cant say it was from a 68 road chicken and such, which i think he was asking.

68 model year engine could have a complete vin on the bellhousing flange. Then again, maybe not.

You'd at least get it narrowed to year and plant, from there.... ????
