Ever hear of a carb exploding?

-
I would still like to see pictures of this exploding carb. This thread is like some of the girls I ran with when growing up, get you excited just to let you down.... :sign12:

The carb didn't explode in the sense of a big assed fireball. It was more just a massive backfire.

I've been working graveyards so sleeping during the day and thus the shop is closed by the time I wake up. My car was looked over and everything seemed fine. They threw on a new (used) carb and aircleaner. I just need to pick the car back up and pay the $600 bill.

Makes me wonder what caused the backfire. Did they find a cause?

You voiced my concern Oklahoma! How much slack is in the timing chain?

Well I received a call from the Mechanic. He said my alternator was faulty (sparks coming out the back that I never noticed?). They had it fixed and said that caused the problem due to my eletronic distributor not getting enough power? Something about the alternator not charging the battery sometimes and thus the lack of power to the distributor which screwed up the ingition and caused the backfire?

I told them that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Im going to head there straight after work and voice my concerns.
