We must be using the wrong sandpaper, even with 36 grit on an air file, it sands like granite. What to use?

Sanding a 4 foot long Curved, with a vertical contoured 1/4 panel, on a 69 Charger. The high spots laugh at 36 grit from Napa. What other paper works?

Evercoat Z Grip is what I use and Norton blue 80 grit. Nothing any courser than that and finish off with Evercoat 100446 finish putty with 180 grit. Sand papers from NAPA tend to be rather junky.

I like evercoat rage extreme. did you maybe use too much hardener? I dont remember having a very tough time sanding it...

36 grit should more than be plenty.... are you using air or power to really getting that friction going?

yea two votes for the z grip for the first two skin coats, knock the skin off with a mud hog 36g , then air file it with 45?? long day sorry.

then we use the klingspor filler, doesn't fill alot but is great for getting it really smooth
