Do I need to change the steering center link from a slant six car when installing a 318 (oil pan clearance)? Also will a '72 link fit a '74?

BTW I have a 74 duster and a 72 dart parts car

You will need a small block drop center link to clear. The S/6 ones are strate and will not clear the pan. I think this is correct but mabby some one who has done this swap befor will chime in to help you out.

It should be the same center link with a slight drop in it even if its a slant 6 cars. The earlier A's are the ones that need the swap usually.

That 74 already has the drop link, my 73 /6 duster does.

Sounds right to me to ,No don't change , the center link you have will work in your 74
to swap a v8 in.

As others have said I believe the center link is the same. I put a 73 /6 in my 66 Dart once and had to put my old oil pan on to make it fit. The 73 was a deeper pan. So I think you will have no problems.
