Was wondering if i have to use studs on eah end of the heads for the exhaust manifolds? Also if i do where can i get a good set from. I was going to use regular grade 8 bolts but i noticed the holes go all the way through and dont want any leaks.

I'd use the studs because the end bolts go into the water jacket and require sealant

You don't HAVE to, but they sure work a LOT better than bolts.

I have used bolts and studs. both worked fine. Preferred method in my opinion is studs as you are assured that 100 percent of the threads are engaged. If I remember correctly the factory exhaust threads were corse thread into the head and fine thread where the nut spins on on.
Half the time I took the exhaust stud out by accident trying to remove the nut. generally I just revealed it and threaded it back in like a bolt.

Ordered some and installed thanks everyone. No i ran into another problem and need help. I posted a new thread in the small block section.
