explorer 8.8 questions

After the 8.8 is narrowed on the one side how much wider is it then a stock 7 1/4??.my car has 275/60/15 very close 2 springs.I have about 2 inches each to the lip
 
The lip is about 1inch above tire.Icant beleive iIgot this lucky to find my cragars with new cooper cobras 275/60 15. And thdy fit so good hopfully they fit better with the 8.8.
 
The 8 3/4 axle is 3 inch and 8.8 is 3 1/4 inch. 8.8 is a popular swap and many places sell spring plates for other makes. If you use a used short side axle then the "set" is wrong, can cut down the long axle to same length or new axle about same cost. I wanted to use rear drums, but owner liked discs instead. Made custom parking brake cables to bolt in.

I did this with my dart (in my build). I took 2 7/8" out of the housing and came out to 56 1/2" wide. I love the rear end. Ialso rebuilt it all with carbon fiber clutches and Mine came with 4.10 gears. It would chirp the tires going into 2nd gear in a worn out 318 auto.
