Main part of my shop will be 16’ side walls with parallel cord trusses, so I’ll have no shortage of clearance for lifts. The ceiling height we’re discussing here is simply for the fab/welding room

Gonna go a little off subject here... Earlier you mentioned you hope to pick up vertical band saw... Don't know what sort of work your doing but thought I'd show off what I built & use.. I have a horizontal band saw that I use to cut material, previously I had a vertical band saw too but it took up a lot of space & I rarely used it.... I'd previously used my horizontal saw with the stupid add-on table for small projects that required a vertical band saw but it was a POS... After thinking about it I built a table that clamps in the vise & works pretty well for my needs..

Those lifts are not overheat. They are chain or cable guided with a floor plate. Try removing a tranny with a floor plate. And the unground lifts are very expensive. 14 feet is the lowest to go with a twin post lift.
