I went out yesterday and picked up a few parts.....one of which wasa 20" flex fan (doesnt look like aftermarket but also doesnt have the chrysler symbol on it, so not sure what brand)......and a spacer.....cheap, figuring if it worked on my car great, if not, no big $$ lost.

Well, after getting it home, it looks like 20" is just too large too work.....plus I have since read that flex fans are pretty dangerous and not efficient.

So I am going with my original gut instinct and looking into a viscous-type clutch and solid fan....

I looked around here and found the links to Jegs and Summitforthe mopar 5 blade kit....current pricing is at around $117 plus shipping....

Found these at Autozone and was wondering if you guys feel they would be just as good or if the moapr kit would be the best route....

(My car is a 72 fish with a 76 318 in it...no radiator yet, but it is setup right now for 22")

(Severe duty viscous fan clutch with lifetime warrant--- $62)

and

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ca...splayName=Cooling+&+Heating&_requestid=431266

(6 blade replacement fan for clutch type fan setups -- $27)

So $89 total.....Seems like a good deal and the NEW fan means I dont have to worry about a used one being balanced etc....

They also offer a "heavy duty" model of the clutch that still sounds to be a viscous type, that is $10 less....

I plan on going with a shroud once I can locate one.....Autozone also has rads for the car, but only the 22" 2 row.....for like $160.......

This setup would proabbly be fine for the 318, I am sure....but I originally figured "more cooling is better" and had been looking for original heavy duty cooling stuff.....

Thoughts?

shadango: Don't see why the stuff you're picking out won't work. Doesn't always have to be Mopar stuff. I've used many parts over the years that aren't marked Mopar. Do your thing. LOL

Thanks guys....

Yeah, I know that these parts wont be genuine Mopar.....but for now the main goal is to get the car running .......seems like the aftermarket stuff should be fine to me too....just want to be sure I get the right sized ones, etc....

Wondering if the "AC" radiator would be larger in teh width or have more cores....cant seem to find that info....
