Has anyone had a problem with hooker supercomps back tube hitting steering colum? tube is resting on colum and it needs to drop another 1/2in to bolt up. The engine is a 400 with edelbrock heads in a 74 duster with a motor plate. I had these headers in another duster with a 440 and schumacher mounts with no problems. Anybody had to deal with this?

Don't have experience with BB, but my SB fenderwells took some shimming on the motor mounts to clear steering linkage. Is your motor centered and are the motor mounts in good shape?

The motors centered and level. And its mounted solid with a motorplate so no worn mounts.

I'm not into big blocks, but could the short deck/tall deck difference be a factor, and/or exhaust port height between the current Edelbrocks and the previous heads?

I have 2 inch tti's and on my 440 and it is close. Its running solid mounts, I would imagine if it was using standard mounts they would slap the shaft getting on it.
