Front fenders ARE quarter panels.

Really?? I have been working on cars for 60 years, and I have never heard a front fender called a quarter panel. I had always thought that fenders were bolted on and that quarter panels were welded on. I am NOT questioning your knowledge, but I just Googled "What is the difference between a fender and a quarter panel"? Every single answer that popped up said some combination of "Fenders are in the front and quarter panels are in the rear" or "Fenders bolt on and quarter panels are welded on." Nowhere did I see anything that said a front fender is also considered to be a quarter panel.

Another option would be to tie the hinges down and make it a lift off hood.

Hey, it worked for the 69 1/2 440 6 pack/barrel cars. That is actually a good idea.

Trunk=Boot. Bonnet=Hood. Convertable Roof= Hood.
I think it the stronger beer they drink
And I worked in body and paint shop and never ever called a fender quarter panel.

I'm the same way. A lot of my customers call front fenders quarter panels. I'm pretty sure I've seen them called quarter panels in some manual or I would have not said that.
I'll see what I can do to back that up.

Okay I'm full of ****. lol but as long as we understand the cognitive meaning it doesn't really matter in my book. Some people call the fenders front quarter panels. Is that technically correct, I don't think so, but I sure know what the hell they are talking about.

I did not know the factory did that. I do that on deck lid hinges when replacing rear quarter panels sometimes. Those torsional springs can be a bugger. It helps for painting too.

Yes. Have you ever been to a Mopar show and seen a 69 1/2 440 6 Pack/Barrel Road Runner/Super bee with the hood on the ground (probably sitting up off the ground on 4 little pegs). They came from the factory like that.
