This is the what I've come up with on my used ring and pinion. Chime in if you think it needs some more work or if it's alright.
Backlash was set at .006 for this last setup. Thanks for any thoughts you have.

I'm thinkin maybe a touch more gear depth. Not much.

I was afraid everyone would sat that it needed more shim. It looked to me that the coast side needed more, but the the drive side is centerd between the root and the top perfectly. I have .070 in it now and when it had .072 of shims the drive side was close to the root of the tooth.
Maybe it's one of those gear sets that will never be perfect.
Would it hurt it to run it as it is? Or would you add a .001 more shim to get it closer?
Here are the pictures with .072 shims installed. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures but the drive side is close to the root.
Thanks for you help, this is my first time setting up an axle and it's not as much fun as I though it would be.

I dont really have anything to add, But I will be doing the same thing today, so I will probably be asking the same question about the pattern on my gears.

I built the rear in my Duster. From the research I've done the so called "experts" say not to worry about the drive side on used gears. The coast side is more important. I have an Yukon instruction booklet and it says to concentrate on having the pattern centered left to right and not worry about the pattern being up or down. This is supposed to guarantee correct pinion depth. This actually makes sense to me. Go to Randy's Ring n Pinion website. You will find very valuable info.

So does that mean you think that I should leave it as it is or add .002?
