Well it's underway.... My 70 dart swinger, I am the 2nd owner. Purchased in 2005 for my youngest daughters' 1st car. She drove it 1 mile everyday to school and then at college knowing one day it would morph into a street rod.

All original; started 10 yrs ago with 27k miles, now sporting around 44k. 225 /6, AT. PS and that's about it. Have the original bill of sale and build sheets as well as a bunch of early documentation.

SO here's my vision of this car - wanting to make a decent street rod out of it, but keep it basically (kinda) period correct (components are all purchased now just need to go to work)!

Replace /6 with a 340 date code 1970 warranty block - bored .030 over. Nice and clean, decked. magnafluxed and all cyls' and crank bore in A1 shape. Scat stroker kit purchased - forged crank, 10.8 comp forged racetec pistons, stock J heads 2.02 / 1.98, mildly ported,

Replace 904 AT and 7-1/4 rear with 833 4Speed and 8-3/4 489 w/ 3.91, keep stock SBP rallye wheels

Replace front drums with OEM SBP KH discs - (upgrade to power). Keep PS

convert to Mopar electronic ignition

Schumacher engine mounts, new stock OEM radiator, Edelbrock performer intake, Holley electronic fuel pump, electric fan, 750 Speed Demon carb, Summit Mopar Street N Strip cam.

I'll post progress here. Right now just test fitting engine components, pistons, pins, rod crank. This week-end will finalize rotating assembly.

Trusting it all works out, tried to do my due diligence in this set-up... been about 35 years since I did an engine build and trans swap, so here we go!!!.:burnout:

Like this but think I need to drop the side molding and wheel well trim....then add BB stripe!!

Replacing the seat cover that had a rip and black tape on drivers side. Also, need to get ready to install the clutch / brake pedal, new wiper seals, new windshield glass seals along with all other door seals and felts.... So I'm basically gutting inside.

A little out of sequence above. Dash is out, front and rear glass out, passenger door out, pass hinges off. front bench seat is done, and looks good. New foam and got rid of that burlap and wire, used heavy canvas, burlap and vinyl around springs. I also reinforced springs from underside by wire wrapping spring ties and by stuffing the HD foam in the spring voids. Seat is nice and firm now... too hold my fat a@##! This car is in exceptional shape, no rust anywhere. but shear age has taken its toll on all the rubber parts. Thanks to a lot of great posts and technical advice on FABO, I'm working may way through this! Next step to pull the /6, 94 and the 7-1/4 rear. Switching out the front drums to discs, and new rear leaf springs. Still debating front torsion bars. Then need to install clutch and brake pedals. and prep for installing the 340 stroker (416) and the 833. In the meantime, I'm repainting the dash, new dash pad, new wiper pivot seals, new glass seals, on $ on... seems like every time I turn around $100, $100, $100......oh well, it's getting closer and closer to what I want it to be...

Apparently Joe Swiderski must have installed the rear interior quarter vapor barrier... Thought that was cool. Car built in Windsor Ontario.

Nice looking Swinger! It ought to be a screamer with that 416. Keep up the good work!

Well, been a lot of goin on and not a lot of time to work on the Dart, but try to make a bit of progress every few days whenever I can. Here's latest pix. Front suspension is out and engine bay stripped ready for paint Lot's of little things getting ready too to start into the put back together mode!
