First harvest

Not a big squash fan but I really dig peppers. Seranos, jalopenos, habaneros etc. Anything that burns. I read that our bodies flood the brain with endorphins to ease the pain because one hot pepper has more vitamin C than an orange and our bodies know this. Cool.

Nice garden and nice squash, got any peppers yet? :)

Umm - squash.
I love fresh fried yellow crook necks...

Nice gardens all! I've got one at my new place but I've no time to plant at all. I think I'll spend this summer conditioning the soil and tilling the crap out of it (or in it :)) I'm hoping for some corn, onions and some serious peppers. Maybe carrots and lettuce too if I can keep the critters out (that's why I asked about the owl daredevil).

I've got two mature apple trees and and a grape vine on a trellis too, plus some black walnut trees. Too early for leaves yet here in Colorado. This area used to be an Orchard 100 years ago until they started to subdivide it 56 years ago.

Anyone have a wine recipe? These are supposed to be wine grapes.

Last year had tons of cucumbers and a couple pumpkins.

The girls planted peppers and tomatoes and we should not have to buy cucumbers this summer at all.

Gardening sure can save some money huh?

I wish i could grow corn and distill alcohol and convert to an alcohol setup so i can afford to drive my bb as much as i want. But not buying veggies will help with gas.

You're lucky. I'm just now thinking of turning my garden over and preping it for spring. Short growing season here. Squash, peas, beans and tomatoes do pretty well here. I have raised beds which I stocked with worms a few years ago so I can grow the veggies and catch the meat too.

the first 2 pics it almost looks like that owl in the background is on your shoulder! sorta like a parrot with the captian of the ship! awesome garden. laid out nice...

I dig a hole out back and bury my fish heads and remains
and keep it covered :snorting:
Then the next time I clean fish I dig next to the same hole and add more to it and then cover with soil.
let that set and add a wheel barrel loud our three to your garden the next year.. This also will see if there are any fox or cats in your area.
if so then enjoy feeding the fox and cats until the right one shows up then take your pick.
I have seen coyotes dig these fish up at the old home place.:salut:

Good advice Mike and gives me an excuse to go fishing. I wonder if the wife will go for it?

Me: "Babe, I'm going to get some fertilizer. I'll be back by evening. We got any spare beers laying around?" lol!

Hopefully you will have time to do a garden next year ramcharger.:drinkers:

How is the new home doing for you and the family?

Be back later babe, going after some fertilizer :thumbrig::sign5:

I keep a soft sandy area around it so I can see tracks of what walks up to check
out the cent when I am sleeping.

Good idea Mike, your stealthy American Indian heritage is showing! I have a lot of respect for American Indians as that is part of my wife's heritage too.

I have a fox in living in the culvert/ditch in the front yard. He/She is pretty well fed as he keeps stealing the neighbors chickens. I don't want my dogs getting tangled up with a fox. Kinda worries me regarding the diseases they can carry, but I can't take it out so to speak as it's not truly in the country even though another neighbor has horses. Unique nieghborhood.

Everthing is going OK right now. The last homeowners were heavy smokers and smoked indoors. I smoke too, but I step outside. My wife never smoked so I've been spending an incredible amount of time washing walls with TSP, painting and what the hell, may as well re-run new electrical right, lol!

Anyway, hope you're having a drink too. I'm having Bacardi & Cokes right now. Just ran out of rum too, dammit. The wife is visiting her dad and picking up her '74 BMW 2002 set up for SCCA racing so it's just me, the dogs, the fox, and whoever else decides to show up.

Gotta make a run rum, I mean rum run, lol! Maybe I'll be back.
