Hey yall I’m excited to be here in this community! I’m just getting started in the Mopar world but loving it so far. Had a 79 Camaro in highschool that I worked on a bit, but haven’t really had a classic car to work on in over a decade because Marine Corps, marriage, kids, etc.

I finally pulled the trigger on a 73 Duster that I’ve been tinkering with for the last few months. I made a few changes to the mildly build LA 318 (mated to an AX-15 of all things) and it really woke it up. Well, I’ve caught the speed bug so I went and bought a 1971 340 with J heads that is in pieces and a 4 speed to go with it. Problem is, I’ve never built an engine, pulled an engine, or pulled a transmission. So I’ve got lots to learn and it’ll be slow going between work, college, and two young children, but I’m determined to get my Duster the engine it deserves.

Welcome to the wonderful world of FABO and Mopars. That is one beautiful Duster, very worthy of a 340, take your time, ask questions and along the way you’ll get that engine in. It’s a pretty straight up swap from a 318 to a 340.

Very nice car

Welcome to the site

Definitely, tons of information and great people in here to help guide you.

So, you can get re-prints of the Factory Service Manuel for your Duster, and There is a great book, " How to rebuild your Small Block Mopar." The older edition is by Don Taylor and Larry H. It will help a lot.

I actually just bought that book! I’ll check out the factory reprints, can I get hard copies?

:welcome: from :canada:

Thank you for your service.

Great looking car, and you are in the right place for all things A body Mopar. Lots of good people here and a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience.

If you have no service manual, run over to MyMopar.com and wander around. Download a service manual. You may have to settle for Dodge vs Plymouth. There are aftermarket wring diagrams, which can be easier to follow, and some years there are parts manuals which are handy.
