Flip-Top cap, is it correct?

I have had one of the flip top adapters for a while, and just got this cap for X-mas from my wife. It is the 69-70 cuda/charger cap (which I think is the correct one) but it has a offset/angled base (see pic #2) and sticks out kinda funny on the bottom. Are they all like this, or is there one that sits more flush?

It looks exactly like the cap I bought for my Duster and used the Flip top Adapter but my cap does not have a beveled edge. It sits flat on the adapter

What is your cap intended for?

It is not that mine does not sit flush on the adapter, the base is just at a angle in relation to the cap. It would make the cap stick out about a inch at the bottom and much less at the top.
