I use a hockey puck....(and I'm not even Canadian..)use an insulator pad if you don't want scratches - hard rubber, urethane..
Look at it this way -- the rear axle is already holding up half the weight of the car. Putting a jack under it isn't changing that.

No, but I do know I found it interesting on the slicker '92 and up full size Fords 4.6L and all, there was a tag or something that said plainly NOT to do that on them.any issues lifting '68 barracuda this way? has 489 rear-end.
