after replacing the heater cores on a 98 Dakota and a 02 1500 I know how much labor is involved in taking out the heater box (next time I might consider just cutting out a section of firewall under the hood) if my 03 develops this door problem I will definitely give this a try

Good to know. I emailed them regarding my 00 Caravan and it seems they are one step ahead of me. They have a heater box for said vehicle and are working on a kit for it now. You never know. Maybe I'll get the blend door repaired and have AC again!
 
Wow cool deal I will be looking into this for my Ram as well. I think mine works fine but why not prevent a problem right?
 
Man oh man what timing.

Just the other day my air quit blowing out of the a/c vents and after further investigation one of the doors had failed. I removed the fan and reached up in there and removed the door. It broke off in the same place.

Thanks for thread!!! I now have something to go on.
