I have discovered that I will need to do some drivers side frame rail repair on the swinger. After a little reasearch on the net I discovered that it is common for our beloved A bodies to rot there from the inside out due to poor design causing battery acid and water pooling.bummer, anyway does anybody have any info on replacement parts, repair info, pictures or any other info, would be greatly appreciated.
The good news. I had to swap out the starter on it also. Keep in mind this car has run once in the last 15 years. It has a cheap set of headers.(Eagle's I think) We had to drop the headers in order to get the starter out, I put in a high torque mini. The last header bolt was an absolute nightmare, could not get a socket on it or a finger ...yadda yadda yadda, it was brutal. We eventualy got it all back together. In the previous weeks I had been spraying the cylinders with metalon and turning the engine by hand. I changed the oil and filter, checked the distributer cap, cleaned things up checked connections etc. After the starter was installed I ran a hose from the fuel pump to a jerry can and put a vacum pump on the line and sucked some fuel into the system. We then installed a old set of plugs and the battery from the fish. I got in and my buudy pumped the carb twice fron under the hood, I hit the key and it fired up in 2 seconds.BAM!! came to life like right now!!! Friggin amazing. We did a few carb adjustments and let her run, good oil pressure, vaccum, temp went up to 170 or so. Every light worked except for the rf marker, even the horn, the old tape deck was loud and clear. The light in the scoop mounted tach lit up too! This is got to be why we love this old Mopar muscle. Went to sleep last night with a smile on my face, could have been the beer though.

Mopar engines seem to be very for giving after being let set for long periods of time.
As for your frame rail, there is a company that advertises in the Mopar magazines that makes new frame caps.I can't remember the name off-hand but Year one carries them also.

Thanks for the help guys, this ones going to be torn down before I play with it. My mission now is to find a home/property with a decent sized shop. Looks like our dream home is no longer what we need. Nothing out there right now, so the swinger will spend the winter out on the driveway. There is only enough room in the garage for one car while working on it and I still have things to do to the cuda...I need room!!!!
