I replaced the front 4x10 speaker with two 4in coaxial speakers for stereo sound.
I 3d printed a custom bracket that fits into the stock speaker location.

I did the same except I cut the new frame out of masonite. 3D printing is a much slicker solution. Cool!
 
Looks good! I purchased an aluminum adapter from a forum member to accomplish the same thing. Don't forget to cover the top with speaker mesh/fabric to keep dirt or anything falling through dash out of your speakers.
 
are they connected to the OEM AM (or AM/FM) radio?

if so they need to be a total of 8 ohms most speakers today are 4 Ohms and per a restoration website the lower numerical ohm speakers will fry a transistor in the OEM radios.

if they are 4 ohm you can wire them in series to get the 8 Ohms needed
