Hey everyone,

Offering up my 5.9L Jeep for an a-body. I'm looking for early model Dart (63/64) thats in running condition with a decent body. Could care less if its a slant 6 or a v8, I have a 360 on a stand waiting to go in one. I just want one that's a driver. I may be interested in other A-bodies...just let me know what you have.

I am not interested in any 64-66 Barracudas or 70+ Darts, or Dusters. Any other Mopars I will consider.

What I have to offer is my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. Its my daily driver, but, I have a 1996 Ram Pace Truck I just picked up that is taking over that duty.

It was a one year only jeep that came with the 360, and all the power options. When it was built it was the fastest SUV ever produced, and more or less the predecessor of the SRT8 Jeeps out now.

Mines not perfect, but has 93k miles on it and runs great, and is quite quick for a 4000lb 4WD SUV with power everything.

But, its Platnium in color, 5.9L with 46RE trans that shifts beautifully. And no rust to be found besides underside surface rust on suspension components. This Jeep also has the factory tow hook and skid plate package which is the only option available for the 5.9.

Now for the issues...

Transfercase Viscous Coupling is bad. Every 5.9L Jeep is plagued with this and there's hardly anyone who has a good 249 transfer case. They're strong but they don't last long. These trucks are AWD (therefore no 2WD selection). I always leave front driveshaft out, so there's no issue, but if you want 4wd, the transfercase needs replaced. Most replace them with the 242 unit out of a 4.0L Jeep, which is plenty stout and gives you a 2wd option. Bolts right in if out of 96+ ZJ Grand Cherokee or XJ. All over the junkyard. When in 2wd with the driveshaft out, there is no issues at all. Also a lot more fun to drive. 3.73 trak lock Spicer 44 rear end.

When the front driveshaft is installed, it can be quite annoying in tight maneuvers as it is locked full 4wd 50/50 split. Feels like your driving a car with a spool in the rear end in tight maneuvers (parking lots, driveway, etc).
Still plenty driveable and when the front driveshaft is in, its in 4wd so goes everywhere. But...as I said, annoying, and causes odd tire wear if left in on dry roads.

Dent in the hood from a deer is probably the worst thing about the Jeep.

Needs an a/c compressor (a/c worked til the compressor locked up. System is still charged however).

Driver side seat heater needs connection resoldered. Very common. Pass side works great.

Headliner is starting to droop. Though I'm trying to find a good one.

Other than that, its a great Jeep. I tried to point out everything...can't think of much else.

As far as mods and parts replaced in my ownership...

New 150amp Alternator
New water pump and 180* thermostat
New Gabriel Ultra Shocks
New Tie Rod end (at pitman arm)
New Front Rotors
New Autolite plugs/8mm Wires/Napa Gold Cap/Rotor
Battery is coming up on only a year old
Cat Converter removed and Flowmaster 40 put in place of the stock muffer. Sounds awesome...nice gurgle on decel.
Trans filter changed about 10k miles ago
Diff fluid changed about 5k miles ago
Red Tinted Tails
Cold Air Intake

Here's some pictures and a video I have of it. The Torq Thrust DO NOT come with it.

Jeep has given me 25k miles of service, back and forth to Florida twice (2400 miles round trip each time), and its ran beautifully the entire way. Any parts that were replaced or failed were from it sitting when I got it at 71k miles (therefore why the mileage is so low).

Gas mileage is about 12-13 city...I got 18mpg highway going to Florida at 80mph.

As I said, it runs very well, and runs damn good for what it is. Surprises quite a lot of people.

Also has a hitch with a 7 way connector. Has plenty of pulling power (pulled a car on an equipment trailer), but brakes are lacking for towing. I'd recommend a brake controller. But the wire is there already from the factory to hook one up.

Jeep is originally from Virginia. I am located in Englewood, Florida.

Please send me a personal message or post in this thread if there is any interest in a trade.

The Jeep is also for sale outright for $4000 FIRM. Low bluebook on it is $4200, and this Jeep is near perfect besides what I pointed out.

But PM me and let me know what you have. Or PM me and I can give you my phone number.

Thank you.

Wanted to mention I realize a running car isn't going to be perfect to be worth 4k. Needing interior work, paint, a little body work, etc doesn't bother me.

Lmk what you have.
