1972 Dart Original 318 car /There are 2 fuel lines going from back to front. One connected to sending unit, the other to a fitting above the sending unit. I will be using an electric fuel pump and reg.Do I need both of these lines? Another dumb question- do I need a return line? If no return line is needed, can I use both existing lines manifolded together to serve as fuel lines to the engine? { I need to feed a 450 horse 360}I am new to this stuff so I need help!!
Any one have any pictures of their fuel {electric} pump? I would like to see where you mounted it? And how you plumbed it? Any help will be appreciated. I ordered a new tank/sending unit the tank will have 3/8 outlet.

I think you can use the other line for a return but the supply line might be a little small for that engine, might want to upgrade to a 3/8 or 1/2 supply line.Bruce

I believe the second line is a vent line, you deffinately want to upgrade to at least 3/8"fuel line tank to engine,i just eliminated all factory lines, and ran 3/8" rear to front,a return line is up to you,i did'nt run one..i have the fuel filter mounted just after the sending unit, and my pump located on the pass. side frame rail,it feeds my 520 h.p. stroker just fine with no issues...

The return line in your car is a evaporation control system. It should also include a charcoal canister and an overflow limiting valve. The line runs to a vapor liquid seperator inside the tank.
Unless you are staying factory stock, lose it.Just make sure your fuel filler tube or gas cap is vented.Cap the return line at the tank if necessary,or get a new tank,70 or ealier.

Most people put the elec fuel pump on the passenger frame rail, above the the tire.3/8" should be fine, run alum, steel,or braided line.Attach it to the frame rail with clamps,or you can get the factory style 3/8" clamps if you are running hard line, and follow the factory route.
Dont think a return line will be necessary for your application.Return lines are necessary when you are running "BIG" hp motors.

After re-reading my post let me be clear that the return line or
(second line) in your car "does not" carry fuel.Actually it is not a return line at all,but just a vapor line. Part of the smog/emission push that began in 71 or 72.
