Hello how y'all doing, I just bought a new fuel tank and sending unit. It came with a gasket and ring to hold the sending unit in place. My question is where does the gasket go ,is it between the sending unit and the ring or the fuel tank and the sending unit then I put the ring on to hold it in place?

Not being a smart azz but think about what a gasket does and how it works. What parts do you want to seal for leaks and if you put it in the wrong place would it seal anything? I'm trying to teach here and get you to think about things should work.

Ok I got you lol I 1st put it on between the sending unit and ring but was thinking the same thing ,just double checking thank y'all for the help

Are you using your original lock ring? Aftermarket lock rings are found to be thin and flimsy.

Ah **** lol I haven't took my old tank out yet ,so if the gasket at ring are good re use them?
Use the new gasket but use the original lock ring off of your tank. Lots of people, including me, have had problems getting the new Chinese lock rings to seal. It can be a mess the first time you fill up your tank!

Yes absolutely reuse the original lock ring. I went through this a while back and the aftermarket leaked bad. Got gas every where. Once you install fill the tank fill it just far enough to determine not leaking.

Ok, I got my tank off and I know there post to be a sheet of something between the gas tank and the trunk, Is there anything similar I could go buy at Lowe's or Home Depot to use as the something instead of ordering the mat and waiting for it to be shipped here?

Yes, I believe you can buy a rubberized roofing product that has peel and stick adhesive on one side. Put it on like this.

I had some black peel and stick soundproofing for the interior. One sheet was the perfect size for the top of my gas tank.
