Drink it all up!
Then call me in the morning...

By the way, thanks a LOT. Now that'll be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Then my job here is done
That's just so wrong.
It's all for comic relief

I'd have to say I'm a decent tipper now (decent by normal standards, if I order standing up, your not getting a tip, and even in a fancy restaurant 18% is good)

But it took me a while to get there, back home we don't tip and for years my mindset was "the waitres made a contract with the owner, all I'm responsible for is the price on the menu"
Because that's how things work in the old world

I eventually got it though

I tip based solely on performance. If the food is good and fresh, but the service is even "so-so" I still leave a good tip. I have left a nickel before, but I've never left nothing. I normally leave at least 20%. Although I've never worked for tips, I've worked in public service all my life. People can be assholes.

So who do you tip, the cook or the wait staff?

I never worked in the service industry, so I only know it from the consumers point of view

I've never seen cooks around here that accepted tips. Although we have a couple we're very good friends with who own a really good Mexican joint. He is the main cook. I have tipped him before with gift certificates and such.
