it’s a smart man that knows when he’s in over his head. Have been a few times, an backed up and said to myself “ self you better seek help you don’t have a f…… clue what to do.
Yup, I told him, the first thing you do when you find yourself in a hole, is stop digging

was talking with two of my Church brothers last nite, the three of us have been trying to fix the sliding door on the van of one of em

somehow it came up that the other guy could use a welder for some work on his fiancees car, so i told i have a welder
long story short, we walk out to see what needs to welded and he wanted to basically recreate the rear strut tower on a 20 year old ford, but there was nothing to weld it to...the entire strut (still attached to the rear wheel of course) was just flopping around in the trunk of the car
Old friend had a ford escort
Rear strut tower broke free
Spent like 6 hrs fixing it
Did charge 1/2 what i should have gotten
A couple of months later his thermostat stuck open .....it was a cold winter
2 out of three bolts snapped off
Was there till like 8 on a Saturday night
Get it done Think I told him 150
He gives me 100 and says give you the rest later.....best 50 i never got....never came back and I never had to work on that pos again

Yeah, you remember those metal strips you can buy at AutoZone or wherever that are marketed for "fixing exhaust" ?

That's what he had used to "fix" this strut

I'm gonna have to have a conversation with him about what is acceptable for a man to allow his wife or fiance to drive, because it's simply a safety issue

But, at the same time, he tried to fix it, so I don't want to be to harsh on him
Sounds like it's time for another car. Along those same lines.......

Kitty and I met when we were both going through divorces. A story for another time. Anyway, we met at KMart, when I worked in the auto service department and she was the garden shop manager. Her then "husband" brought her van in because it was "driving erratically". We got it on the lift and the rack and pinion unit was held in by MUFFLER CLAMPS (that had worked loose), because the K frame (Dodge Caravan) had rusted through at the rack mounts. We pointed it out and he started screaming at US that it was a good repair he and his brothers had done and it was fine when the clamps were tight. The manager invited him to call a wrecker, because we were not going to touch it. That set him off even more. All Kitty could do was keep apologizing. I'm just glad he was such an asshole. I got a great woman outta the deal.

Ha worked in Plainfield nj for my first job at a tire shop that did state inspections
Guy failed the day before for a headlight at the state inspection station
I go to pull the car in and hit the brake and the steering wheel ripped out of my hand
It turns out the rotor ground threw and snapped off the hub
Told the manager...guy had a fit demanded we put a sticker on it .....
So glad I wasn't the manager that day

You know your Bible, I'm sure you know what I mean if I say you should call her Abigail

maybe he was trying to collect an insurance policy incase of an accident? I watch way too much TV...
glad it worked out for you both :)

Strapped on well.
Centered fairly well for balance – Engine is in the rear, so rear wheel is against edge of bed.
Looks like the truck is handling the load okay, springs not too far down.

As long as the driver doesn't forget what's back there, and doesn't encounter the PoPo, he should be fine.

Needs flags at the corners, though.
I'd also avoid any fast left turns.
