My grandma made us go out and cut the switch she whipped us with.
I only got it a few times. I learned to behave around her really quickly.
To bad you can't use this on todays's kids.

We had one at our summer place.
It actually led to the death of a relative, after it was discontinued.
The system used a coded signal to ring only the desired line. I think the bell frequencies themselves were varied, so that only the correct one could pass a simple filter.
Well, the phone company modernized and separated the lines, but we never got any letters to that effect, and one day they started just sending standard ring signals.
The standard signals couldn't ring the bells. We didn't get a lot of calls anyway, so never noticed.
So one day, the relative got into a bad situation, called a friend for help, the friend missed the call, but got the message on an answering machine and called back right away, repeatedly, but there was no answer because the other phone wasn't ringing. So he shrugged and forgot about it.
True story.

Actually, this reminds me of a very sad story about my cousin, she was demon possesed, and not a little bit either...full blown 'the exorcist'
So we called a catholic priest and had an exorcism done, which worked out great BUT it was so expensive we couldn't afford it
We tried to work something out with the priest but those guys are real money hungry and when we couldn't come up with the money they had my cousin repossessed
