According to my Mopar manuals, '72 was last year of 8.75" as the 8.25" replaced it however, Mopar assembly plants as we all know used up what ever they had on the shelf before the installed newly issued parts so I guess anything is possible. But the fact is that the 8.75" A Body rear was not available in the 77 Aspen, nor does it fit, it is too wide for the car, the tires would have stuck out beyond the fenders.

My buddy has a 74 power wagon ( snow fighter) that came factory with an 8 3/4. His father bought the truck new from our local dealer, and they still have it. I belive 74 was the last year for any 8 3/4 rear.

Exhaust manifolds, 383 block, 516 heads, connecting rods are all sold.

Slant 6 and trans are sold. Starting to see the garage floor for the first time in years. (getting excited)

Correct, I just took a 489 323 carrier out of an original 1974 dodge truck, 1974 was the last year for the 8 3/4 rearend, I believe it was only available in trucks in the later years though.
