I would like to remove the gas cap from my 67 barracuda to do some paint work. It is held on by the original screws that have the weird anti theft heads.
Any tips on how to go about removing those if you don’t have the special tool to do so?

Look in the Communications section of your local big box hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot). They have security bits that have the one you need.

If you're not concerned about saving the original screws, just use a Dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut a slot in the screw head and remove them with a regular flat-blade screwdriver.

Hammer and flat blade screwdriver, tap them loose and then use pliers/vice grips to back them out. I was able to reinstall mine after removing them like this.

I made a tool for removing those screws buy cutting up a cheapy 1/4" drive socket.

McMaster-Carr has the tool, I have extra screw if you want. I have 2 Barracudas and had to buy a box with a lot of screws to get 6.
