I have a fuel cell in the trunk and I'm not sure if that is the problem or if fuel vapors are coming thru the holes at the firewall. Does anyone else have or had this problem and if so what was your solution? I want to seal off the trunk behind the rear seat but not sure exactly how. Some pictures would be great to get an idea. It sucks getting out of the car smelling like a gas pump. My wife refuses to ride in the car, not sure if that is a bad thing or not. hahahah (just kidding honey). she checks this site too.

BEFORE (for safety) you put the trunk mounted cell in, you should have fabbed up some 18gage sheelmetal and welded it along the rear
pakage tray, down and around the wheelwells, and finally to the trunk floor.

now for the smell/safety.. block/cover/weld up any holes on the rear pkg. tray. that includes the speakers (if applicable).

next i would surround the whole trunk compartment with fire proof (resistant actually) insulation.

sorry no pics.

I have pics of the rear firewall construction on the body/interior thread. Separating the two compartments is the most important thing. use fire caulk to finish the wall.
