Well got the cluster panel out yesterday , I'm checking the gas gauge first thing. I'm metering the gauge and get a full reading on resistance, I take it that the gauge is OK. Went from the connector ( which connects to the pins) , showing in my diagram Dark Blue wire that goes to the tank unit and I get a full reading also. So what ya think ?? maybe bad ground on the tank? or I'm just plain missing something, the gauge hasn't worked for awhile anyway. The car probably has almost a full tank of gas. Don't mind the crazy questions , I've never worked on anything under the dash ...all new to me.

Thanks....

Well im not sure what your issue was before.

If you have a gauge that is not reading with the key on, and you KNOW there is gas in it.

- Go to the sender wire at the tank, ground it, turn the key on. Properly working gauge, and wiring up to the sender is good if it pegs the gauge.

- If it doesnt work, you have a broken wire, connector, or a gauge problem.

- If it does peg, that means you A) have a bad sender B) maybe your float is full of gas C) you have a bad ground at the sender.

Hope that helps some
