In the process of completely rebuilding my 67 Barracuda and decided the old gas pedal looked pretty worn. So, I purchased a new pedal and it came with all the hardware to install it. The hardware includes a metal pin, c clip, two plastic inserts that the pin goes through, and the spring. Well the spring goes on one of the inserts, but the insert must be driven through it while it is in place on the pedal. Only problem is, the spring is too tight. I can put the spring in a vise and pull on it enough to get the insert through it, but of course, you can't mount it this way on the pedal because the insert must go through the pedal on both ends. Any idea on how I can get insert through the spring? Am I missing something here or just overthinking this too much?
