30# roofing felt, also known as #30 felt, is typically 1.2mm or 0.8mm thickUse this style felt . Roofing material is to thin and will wear through from what i have seen in the past.

Ok...Thanks for the inputYou should put some sort of barrier between the body and the tank, I have used 30 LB roofing felt in the past. Companies like Tanks Inc. sell barriers.
Once the tank is place and it is lined up properly, I usually tighten it up so that it is 100% snug.
I am no expert, but I think that it should not have any way for the tank to wiggle around and possibly cause a hole or crack in the tank..
Ok ThanksDMT makes a nice pad.

yep I used the old ring and repaired original sender and bench test itThis is a good time to replace the filler neck seal.
Compare the old and new tank as there can be places that the new tank may need the outer flanges bent to clear exhaust, etc.
Do not use the supplied sender lock ring if included. Use the original with a new seal. With that , but the proper tool to remove the ring, a hammer and punch can push the ring into the tank lock ring and not fully seal.
Ok thanksDMT makes a nice pad.
