gas tank interchanging

i just bought a 73 dart swinger that needs a gas tank. i have a tank from a 67 abody without the gas vent tube. will this work. the 73 tank has a vent tube on it and my 67 tank does not. thank you,mike.

to my knowledge,the 67 and earlier a body tanks only had 1 strap ??:sign7:

You can use the 67 tank. Take the vent tube from the 67 fill tube and put it on your fill tube. You can do this by punching a hole in yours and use a 1/8 pipe tap to make threads for a 1/4 inch nose nipple. Do not drill a hole you need to push the metal in so it curls inward to make a stronger thread. I did this to my 71 to eliminate the collision impact protection Tank and tube. Yes 67 do have one strap but all the replacement tanks are made with the 67 shell and strap in all a-bodies. Steve
