Gas tank question

The vent pipe on 66 valiant ties on the filler tube does it tie back into the tank I'm going to remove it today but I don't want to break anything and can't see where it is under the car. Hope some one can help me with this

on my 66 dart (should be the same) my vent tube(the 1/4 inch'ish line right?)that hooks to the top of the gas filler tube just goes through the rubber gasket and vents directly to outside air. It's not connected to the tank at all just to the filer tube and clamped to the wheel well pinch weld flanges.
