Gasket or No Gasket?

I am putting together (2) 8.75 rear ends in the coming few days and I am debating whether or not to use the gasket under the center section on them. The last one I did years ago in my drag car we did not use it. We simple used Permatex Black and no gasket….

What is everyone doing nowadays on these? Does the gasket really make a difference with the advances in Permatex gasket makers/sealers.

Same here, as gaskets always seem to end up seeping and collecting dust.
I might use a gasket if I was testing and adjusting, but the last time the cover went on it would be RTV'd.
