72 Dart Standard Column AT. I took the steering wheel and part of the column off today. I was attempting to find out why the indicator moves when I turn the steering wheel. I wasn't able to figure out where things are touching. Will someone can give me specific information how to fix this. I looked in the chassis manual but still don't see any thing rubbing. Help please!

Clarification. When the steering wheel is turned in either direction....the indicator moves off of drive. Goes back and forth between N D 2. It doesn't jump out of gear.

The needle could be loose it screws to the top of the column behind the prnd21 display or your column floor mount could need adjusting as if it is off to one side the steering shaft can rub the gear selector tube and move it. You can see if its centered under the hood where it comes out of the firewall there are three bolts on the floor to adjust it. Does it happen when parked and turning the wheel? If not id say its a loose needle.
