Read this wear pattern

It looks like the pinion depth was incorrectly set when the gear was installed.

IMHO, the ring gear wear pattern is way off, all of the wear is on the heal portion of the gear and extends to the end of the gears heal at full depth. The toe portion of the gear has no wear on the first 1/4" into gears toe end. Basically if has all heal wear due to the pinion being installed at the incorrect depth. At least that is how I see it.

I also see this gear as having noise issues if the pinion depth is corrected after due to this wear pattern.

A correct pinion depth would extend up into the toe portion of the gear were there isn't any wear which would cause the pinion to ride on just the toe end due to the excessive heal wear and still result in an improper pattern. At least this is what I have found over the years.

Your thoughts???

Looks like it needed more pinion gear depth. Crappy picture though.

from pics coast looks too high on the gear tooth

could you post pictures of the DRIVE side pattern of the gear ---

when installing a gear set if you get the drive side pattern correct,,, the coast side pattern will be ok
