3.0 or 3.55 gears... which would be the better for a mild perf. getty up and go, daily driver, and hwy but haul *** in a 73 full body swinger... 318 mild built, 340purple cam, and an a-904 suposivaly has a lock up 1978 transmission...
i'm leanig towards the 355's ant thoughts?

There are lots of purple cams. Which one?

How much is gas by you? Up here it's $4.30 for the cheap stuff.

I'd go with 3.0. 3.55 will suck more gas...

its a mopar purple 340 resto cam... and i have 2.94's all ready... the replacement axle has 3.0 in it, i want more power off the line looking to a 3.55 and plan on running my a904 lock up transmission would think this is a good combination for the street / street performance?

Mopar never made a 3.0 gear. Ford did. At any rate, you'd never feel the difference between 2.94s and a 3.0. Which rear axle do you have? A 3.23 would be a great choice.

Your rear tire height also makes a BIG difference on what gears will work the best for you. If you have stock size small tires you'd want a taller gear such as a 3.23, or maybe even keep the 2.94 gears. If you have big over size tires the 3.55's will work better.

installing a 8" ford from a failrlane in the rear, cheep performance.... 8.25-and 8.75 are worth gold out here... and dumping the 7.25 pyle of crap. the 8 inch is soooo much stronger, and i have both the 3.0 and the 3.55 gears, plaing on 245/60/14's in the back with the lock up trans....
