Here is a Gear Vendors installed into an A body Dart the cross member was lowered 1" It is hard to see but there is a 1/2" clearance in the tunnel for the G V unit.

I could not Find any pics for this type of install so.....

we installed a gear vendors into a hemi 68 cuda with no issues that i rememeber...
