....and they sure do have some weird rules....

Apparently they have noise curfews...no motor fired prior to 9a.m. or after 5p.m. on Thursday or Sunday. Couple of local racers, that work for a living, are talking about bailing as the finals will not be held to Monday, assuming no major oil downs occur...and the weather cooperates. In reading thru all the comments in a couple of the different FB posts it is possible that some folks are not even going to get 1 time hit...just take a guess at the dial and go. May not be a problem for the locals...but the DA here in Spokane varies quite a bit. At one of the events the Weather Station I saw said the DA was up at 4800'. Hell, we just had a "National Open" event where there was some class racing...the 9.90 index class was adjusted to 10.10. Going to be almost impossible for out of towners to be competitive with just one time hit.

Only reason I decided to go to the ET Finals instead of the Halloween Event at Boise is because of the uncertainty of Spokane County Raceway next year.... The current lease expires October 1st....obviously there is all kinds of rumors circulating but that is all they are right now. I have been told by a few reputable sources that the tracks future has already been decided but the county is not going to release any info until after the current lease expires.

SCR was scheduled to host the Summit ET Finals in 2020. From what I read that has changed, simply because the NHRA does not know if SCR will be here next season.

I truly hope that the rumors I have been hearing are true, and that SCR will be running next year. If not, guess I will be spending my time at Airway X, the local motocross track. The nearest drag strip to Spokane is Walla Walla, I think. And it is over 200 miles away. I felt a bit unsafe shooting there as the barrier is not a "Jersey" wall, they are just 18" square concrete blocks....and if I remember correctly there is no safety/fire/emt's present.

Indexes are never adjusted for the DA. Only for the physical elevation of the track

Last time I raced Pacific raceway was in 2004. I really like that track.
I am not much of a spectator, so I will be looking forward to your take on the event and of course your pics.

I am dragging a local racers truck behind me, so I need to get there somewhat early on Thursday. Looking forward to it...just don't know how much of it I can take with my back. Another racer will be bringing my "Grandpa Car", aka mobility scooter so I don't have to walk. I bring 3 camera bodies, 4 lenses, a tripod with Gimbal head and a monopod....all in a cart. I like to cruise the pits, getting pictures of either folks working on their rides or the cars just sitting there...
I do know that one of the local guys, who races on a limited schedule because of his back...when he is not racing he is out helping several of his friends..he told me he is not going because he does not like all the rules..in particular the noise laws.

I was thinking one of these would be perfect as a mobility scooter

Probly not real popular in the local market though
I have just the right go kart chassis for just such a project, and, a vintage metal Igloo cooler.

The noise law has been there for awhile, all the yuppies building in the area complaining.
Times have changed , it wouldn't have been an issue during the muscle car era.
They shut me down at 7.51 am on a Sunday morning. lol I was too loud for the yuppies.
