goo from voltage regulator?

at some point the goo started dripping out of my voltage regulator, it then failed I got a new one. not really the point here. I want to know how to get the goo off? I am trying to prep my engine bay for paint. any help is appreciated.

I guess if you're going to paint it, scrape what you can off with a single edge razor then clean with some mineral spirits or something equivalent.

Just be sure, as you are probably well aware, to clean the area real good before primer and paint.

That's actually a pretty good product.

I've used goo gone. It didn't seem to work very well.

If you're going to paint the engine bay (prep) then I would use a side grinder with wire brush and be done with it. Next question! lol

I used a single edge scraper, same thing happened with my ignition control module
