Got my friend's new 572 setup in his 64 Fury out this weekend. Very hot and humid weather. Friday, 3800' DA, 90+ GOW, 85 degrees, 28.74" BP, 1.093 Correction factor. First pass didn't hook quite great, which is expected for a test and tune on a friday. Ran a 5.80 at almost 118MPH. Second pass loosened up front end 1/8 turn on the santhuff shocks. Hooked better and ran another 5.80 at 118 MPH. Third pass, sun went down, got cooler out, car hooked like a banshee, ran a 5.79 at 118 MPH. At keystone the best this car has seen in the previous setup was a 5.78. Saturday, weather is worse correction up to 1.103 and 4100' DA, 88 degrees, over 100 water grains with a headwind. Car ran 5.83 first run, 5.818 second run. Dialed the 5.82, ran a 82 first round got the win. Second round, another 5.83 and got the win. Third round another 5.83 and got the win. 4th round, round robin. Weather was at its worst part of the day around 5:30 pm. Sun still out baking us, conditions stayed the same. Dialed the 83, against a 5.85 so almost a heads up race. Both my friend and opponent weren't that great on the tree. Car ran a 5.821 against opponent who ran dead on the dial. Even if we dialed the 5.82 and he ran dead on with a 1, still would have lost as the opponent had a slightly better R/T. Very happy with the cars performance in this weather. The old setup would have absolutely been 5.92-5.93 in this weather at 115-116mph. So after looking at all the data, we gained a good tenth and 2mph. We made no adjustments to the setup other than very small shock adjustments. The car hooked great all day in the heat which is what we were most happy with, along with its performance.

My friend's son has a 1970 Duster small block 408 Trick flow heads, powerglide, alcohol setup. He went on to take the win in no box. I rebuilt the trans the other week after he head a roller bearing in the converter fail. The converter was loosened up a couple hundred RPM from Abruzzi. The car loved it. Car ran 6.48 footbraking deep staging all day. In the box class he was running 6.40 (shallow stage trans brake). He lost in I think 3rd round in box but went on to win in no box.

Friday, I went 4 rounds before I missed the tree and that was the end of that. Saturday my car ran 5.49 every single pass (5 in a row). I adjusted the box after second time run as I was not cutting the lights I had hoped. Took .022 out. Came right back, was .004, .007, and .016. I was tightening up the stripe, but broke out by .0007 second round. I kept dialing the 5.50 as I felt it was safe and it made me drive the stripe. All in all, great weekend for our team and our cars. With the 64 being its first race with the new engine setup, it was a promising start given the weather conditions. As I have learned, on the days where your driving the best and the car is working the best isn't always the days you win. When its your day its your day.

Next weekend is the annual Curt George Memorial Race Mopar vs. the world at Keystone raceway. So back to the track Saturday to hopefully cover some more rounds.

Thanks, it was a fun time. Hopefully youll get your stuff fixed and be back at the track before you know it. Will you still go to 42 for the Mopar race in August with your team?
Right now, if I get lucky and things go good, my goal is a couple local events, then Norwalk.
42 isn’t going to be in the cards, unfortunately.
Would have really liked to do the rock n race , all my buddies will be there.

Thought I saw some pics of the team out last weekend. Nice results guys! One thing that takes the sting out of hot soupy weather racing for me is when the car runs good! Sounds like all, or most of you, will have met your new targets. Congrats and thanks for the update.

Thank you for sharing! Car is ripping!!! I may or may not remember somebody saying it's got a 5.40 in it : D

All we need is pictures -->

About a month ago she was rippin when weather was better. Ran a handful of 5.39s and one 5.385. She’s workin really good so far this year. Was very happy with the consistency in the heat.

I have a buddy doing most of the heavy lifting. Just have some things to sort out regards recent retirement and how that’s gonna look going forward regards racing budget, more than anything else.
Well that makes sense. Good luck!
