Ernie wanted one for baking. While we could have used one of the others she wants one for just baking. Dealer in Spokane Valley was having a BBQ festival yesterday. I picked up a brand new Medium for a good price...
And to the one member here who ALWAYS has some douchey comment about the $$...the reason Eggs are pricey is simple...the warranty. The Egg and the firebox and fire ring all have a lifetime warranty. It cracks, you send a picture to the dealer and they get you a replacement...simple as that. BGE is counting on some cracked parts...it is just pottery after all. When you buy one of these things you are buying a lifetime cooker...that is extremely efficient. It will smoke a brisket at 225* and cook a pizza at 750*. With the right fuel it can reach 1000*. All without the taste of petroleum....so now we have 5 of them...a Mini, a Medium, a Large and a pair of XL'S. Wonder if there is some sort of Big Green Egg addiction group...

I'd like to have one but wow they are expensive. I was looking for a surface thermometer for my grill to do a brisket with a couple of days ago. They had one on the shelf, it was for the green egg, it cost $38. I asked if they had any others and found one for $10. I'm not saying the bbq itself isn't worth it, I hear they are great but they sure are proud of them. There's a few things I do on the grill that it would be nice to have one for, one is oysters, gotta have super high temps, I also like to sear/grill steak at high temps so maybe one day...

Yes my friend you have an addiction and need help. J/k. hey it's your money your time and it's what you enjoy. Screw the comments of others. Personally I am considering one of them. I've been reading up on some of the health benefits to smoked versus cured meats.

They are indeed pricey but with the lifetime warranty you will never have to replace it. How many cheap gasser/charcoal grills do folks buy? We purchased a very nice gasser a few months prior to getting our first Egg. Still have the gasser but it has a ton of rust. Eggs do it all. Cooked a 19 pound brisket on our XL. It ran at 225* for 20 hours. When I was done I snuffed it out. Next day we made burgers on it. Following day I ran it up to 700*...still on the one load of fuel.
For us the Eggs do it all. Low and slows, pizzas, burgers...cakes, brownies...hell I even cold smoke in them.
Had a neighbor that said exactly what you did. I invited him over for burgers...made Costco "hockey pucks"...the frozen patties. They were so juicy he swore that they had to be home made patties...
