was washing the van the other day ( 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan ) and noticed a bubble in the lower part of the sliding doors. we bought this van new back in 2006. I knew what it was. rust. figured that we would take them off and get it fixed before winter sets in. what a mess. Chrysler didn't do a very good job with seam sealing these vans that for sure. had to cut out the cancer and the only donor sheet metal I had here was a hood off of a 2012 Toyota Rav4 we had worked on. sooooooooooo, I have incorporated a Toyota with a Mopar and now I have a Topar. They say that Toyota's hold their value so does that make my van worth more. well hopefully it will be back together by the weekend. Momma doesn't like driving my pickup to work.

Last year with my '06 RAM 1500, the metal above the rear wheels literally disintegrated with rust..the body man said all RAMs of that age have this problems and he had fixed many..he replaced with metal as well..

I bought new as well...must be a Chrysler thing..

you know Grassy, my oldest boy has a 2005 Dodge 4WD I believe it is a Ram with a Cummins diesel in it and it is rusting out over the wheels too. We have it on the list to do when time permits.

There is at least a dozen dodge rams at work, unless they are only 3-4 years old the bed sides are rusty above the rear fender wells.

body work done. painted the doors last night. just have to sand and buff the clear coat and they are ready to hang back on the van. Momma will be happy and I get my truck back and I will be happy. LOL

Rust isn't anything new, wasn't for rust and wrecks, there be a lot more old cars around

Not just Chrysler...Fords and Toyotas rot there. At a guess: debris from the rear tire gets stuck in the fender lip, holds water, and rots it. My Dak has the same problem.
