That one ad ain't kidding, it did rise in value.

I Am sure there are a lot of stories here about the ones that got away. in 83 I looked at a $800 GTX and a $800 69 AMX and a $600 68 Rebel Machine. Did not have the cash at 17 years old. Ended up with a $400 68 Fury Wagon, been stuck on wagons since though. Still, wish I had one of those muscle cars now.

I hate threads like this. Just brings back memories of all the ones that got away.

i remember being 7-10 years old at a car show with my dad in his 6 pack cuda... here come a green superbird... 440 6 pack 4 speed.. i remember seeing all the paper work in the trunk about the car. Guy wanted i think 19,500 cause he need money bad. but back in mid 90's.. even any time who would of thought that they would be a super high dollar car.

Relax for a while.
Aar's on ebag are only reaching 30 to 35,000.
Every thing is dropping like stones.
No money out there.

The sellers that still want 100k for birds,
there going to own them for a long time.

When i was 17 i bought a 68 roadrunner 440 4 speed car from a guy around the block for 250.00. Soon after a friend who had another roadrunner tried to sell me his roadrunner for 300.00 needed a clutch ect. his car was in great shape i could have used mine for parts, didn't have 300.00 so had to pass, story of my life. I went into the air force and upon my return from basic training my car was gone my dad handed me 40.00 and said he junked it because it was killing his grass it's just an old junker i don't want in my yard. To this day grass does not grow in that spot.

340 3 speed Challenger ralley in 78 for $1,550

My first car purchased in 1982 was a 69 383S Barracuda, which I still have, it cost my dad $600.00. I passed on the following cars in the weeks leading up to the purchase of my cuda.
1) 1970 Torino Talladega 428scj NICE CAR, I hated the Auto column Shift $2000
2) 1969 396 Nova 4speed. Nice car but had a 350 instead of 396 $750
3) 1971 Demon 340 4spd. I wanted it but it was just too rusty $500
4) 1963 Ford Galaxy 390 4spd. Cool car in good shape $1200
5) 1970 Cutless Conv. SX 4spd 350. Didnt really want a conv. $1000 ish
6) 1973 GTO 400 4spd, nice ride seriously thought about it $900
7) 1968 Camaro 307, auto. Nice car did not want an automatic. $600.00

My birthday is in the summer. Right before I turned 16 I messed my ankle up playing basketball and was laid up for a few weeks. My dad was always a car guy(Ford Man but liked Chrysler) so he said that he would get me a car for my birthday. With nothing else to do I poured through news papers and the peddlers post(local free adds) trying to find a car. I also started reading car magazines and it didn't take long before I was wanting a four speed mopar of some kind. My father bless his heart was as eager as I was and we had a great time that summer searching for my car.
